Staying with us

Port of Galway Site

Starting from the summer of 2025, if you are a Scouting Ireland or International Scout or Guide Group that is WOSM or WAGGGS affiliated then we offer a place to camp at our Dead Man’s Beach site in the Port of Galway. Under no circumstances can we accommodate non-Scouting individuals or groups.

Our facilities are currently basic and consist of a grass campsite adjacent to our Boathouse, a portable toilet (Portaloos) and a cold running water tap. Below is a photo of the camping site together with the Boatshed which we can make available if you require shelter from the weather. The Boatshed also has solar power and battery unit which provides indoor lights and power for phone charging

The charge is €5 per youth Scout per night and free for adult Scout Leaders staying with them. All persons MUST be members of your Scout Group. A maximum of two vehicles may be brought onsite and there is additional parking adjacent to the site.

The site is gated with a code protected padlock

We can additional provide tents, camp tables, camp benches/seats and gas cooking stoves and gas canisters. We’d usually just ask for a deposit in case of damage and would charge to refill any gas you use.

How to find us

We are located at Dead Man’s beach, approx 20 minutes walk from Galway Train & Coach stations and about 5 minute walk from the Galway Dock ferry terminal to the Aran Islands. There is also pedestrian access via the Beach from Renmore. We currently don’t have an eircode, but if you use the eircode for Ocean Sports Centre which is H91 V25X that will bring you close.
